Intern, Development Operations (Remote) at Teach For India

Introduction: Teach For India is seeking a dedicated intern to join our DevOps team for a three-month paid internship. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in enhancing our reporting processes through automation, contributing to our mission to end educational inequity in India.

Responsibilities:

1. Understanding Manual Tasks:

   • Conduct a thorough analysis of existing manual tasks, with a focus on identifying areas within the reporting process that are repetitive and time-consuming.
   • Engage with team members to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current reporting workflow and the challenges it presents.

2. Automation and Simplification:

   • Design and implement solutions to simplify the manual reporting process, which is currently managed through Google Sheets.
   • Utilize automation tools to create a more streamlined and efficient reporting system, reducing the need for manual input and manipulation.

3. Reducing Manual Efforts:

   • Develop and execute strategies aimed at minimizing the manual labor associated with reporting tasks.
   • Innovate ways to enhance overall efficiency, allowing the team to focus on more strategic initiatives.

Knowledge and Technical Skills:

1. Google Report Automation:

   • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in automating reporting processes using Google Sheets, including the use of formulas, add-ons, and integrations.
   • Exhibit a strong understanding of the capabilities and limitations of Google Sheets in the context of automation.

2. Scripting and Macros:

   • Possess the technical ability to develop custom scripts or macros that automate specific tasks within spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
   • Show a keen aptitude for learning and applying scripting languages like Google Apps Script to enhance the functionality of spreadsheets.
     
     
     

3. Error Detection Mechanisms:

   • Implement robust automated error-checking mechanisms to ensure the integrity of data within reports.
   • Design systems that proactively identify anomalies or discrepancies, thereby maintaining the accuracy and reliability of our data.
