Internship Details:
The Digital India Internship Scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is a platform designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms and real-world application in the domain of e-Governance, aiming for inclusive and sustainable growth. Located in New Delhi, this internship provides an immersive experience for students to delve into various facets of digital governance. With a flexible duration of at least two months, extendable up to three months based on the candidate's performance and the Ministry's requirements, interns have the opportunity to deeply engage with their assigned projects. Whether the internship is conducted virtually or in person is determined by the supervisor/mentor, ensuring adaptability to various circumstances.
Eligibility Criteria:
The internship is open to Indian students enrolled in recognized universities who have secured at least 60% marks in their latest degree or certificate examination. The eligible disciplines include but are not limited to B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech (Computer Science, IT, Electronics & Communications), M.Sc., MCA, and DOEACC ‘B’ level, among others. However, it's important to note that specific eligibility criteria apply to certain areas of internship. Additionally, only students in the previous year of their academic program are considered eligible for participation.
Benefits:
Interns selected for the program are entitled to a token stipend of ₹10,000 per month, subject to their satisfactory performance as certified by their supervisor/mentor. Upon successful completion of the internship, participants receive a certificate from the Ministry, acknowledging their contribution and the skills acquired during the program.
Application Process:
Interested candidates can apply for the internship online through the MeitY website. After registering on the provided portal, applicants are required to fill out the application form and submit the necessary documents, including a recommendation letter from their current educational institution, conversion letter if CGPA is applicable, and digital copies of their passport-sized photograph and signature. Throughout the application process, applicants are encouraged to monitor their application status using the provided reference number.
Exclusions:
While the internship provides a valuable learning experience, it's essential to note certain exclusions. Firstly, participation in the internship program does not guarantee future employment opportunities within the Ministry. Additionally, students in their last semester or graduating in summer 2024 are ineligible for participation. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not automatically ensure selection, and candidates are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation during the internship period. Moreover, interns are required to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and refrain from representing the Ministry to third parties or the media.
This internship opportunity serves as a stepping stone for students looking to gain practical experience in the field of digital governance and contribute to the nation's development initiatives. By aligning classroom learning with real-world challenges, interns can develop invaluable skills and make meaningful contributions to the Digital India initiative.
